Producing cultivated meat decentrally offers multiple advantages, among others:

1. Technical: A key difference between large-scale cultivated meat production and decentral cultivated meat production is that farm-scale production can be realized today already. Scale-up of a cell cultivation process up to volumes of 50.000 L has never been performed and implies big technical risks. We mitigate these technical risks by using proven volumes: We scale up by scaling out.

2. Financial: Producing cultivated meat can be very costly in the initial investment needed. We substantially lower the capital investment needed by farmers through our unique combinations of technology and our simple designs.

3. Resourcing: We can repurpose the infrastructure that is needed to produce cultivated meat.

You need energy: Farmers have local and renewable energy available. In the Netherlands alone, 75% of farmers have solar panels on their roof.

You need cell feed: The crops or side streams from the agricultural sector can be used as raw materials for the cell feed.

You need operators: Farmers are food producers and have been making food for the community for a long time. There are 570 mln livestock farmers worldwide and a big part of them is looking for alternative ways to produce protein.

4. Social: Engaging with the current value chain can help accelerate the protein transition and create a transformation of our food system earlier. Further, decentral production helps democratize the emerging technology of cultivated meat.
